Accurate stroke tracking per die across machines, preventing tooling wear from causing batch rejections.
The Problem
Dies and tools wear gradually. They are replaced too late, which causes rejections and damaged machines, or too early, which wastes costly tooling. Paper logs of strokes per die are incomplete and often wrong.
The Sensor
A stroke or cycle sensor linked to the die or tool in use. The operator identifies the die with a barcode or RFID tag, and each stroke is counted against that specific die. The total is stored by die, not by machine, so history follows the die from machine to machine.
The Dashboard Result
- Strokes completed against the expected life for each die
- Remaining life, with a warning at a set threshold
- Rejection rate trend per die
- Die maintenance and regrinding history
- Cost of tooling per thousand pieces
How It Improves Performance
- Less scrap: worn dies are changed before they produce bad parts.
- Lower tooling cost: dies are used to their full safe life.
- Better planning: tool changes are scheduled, not surprises.
- Quality evidence: die life data supports customer audits.
Best For
Fasteners, cold forging, hot forging, stamping, pressing, extrusion and any process with dies or tools.
